Simon Wilson has provided an update on Sheffield Wednesday's transfer plans
Sheffield Wednesday have been quite active in the early stages of the summer transfer window.
The Owls are in the process of rebuilding their first team squad after suffering relegation to League One last season.
New owners Arise Capital are investing in the club in order to turn things around after the significant financial mismanagement under Dejphon Chansiri.
The Yorkshire outfit have already added Ricardo Santos, Callum Slattery and Jordi Liongola to Henrik Pedersen’s team, with pre-season now underway.
And more incomings are likely, with the Danish coach working alongside the new sporting director Simon Wilson to bolster the squad.
Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming to get back to a competitive level, with their sights set on returning to the Championship sooner rather than later.

Wilson has warned supporters that Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer window could be messy due to the nature of their squad rebuild, with a lot of deals expected at Hillsborough this summer.
However, everyone in the new hierarchy is fine with the current strategy, and that they are working hard to maximise their opportunities in the transfer market.
“It’s sort of like patterns to it, I think, when people try to get their business done early as much as possible, us is as an extreme case because we need so many players, so we’re probably more active than most,” said Wilson, via the club’s X account.
“As players come back, and moves start to get made, there can be another round of activity, and there’s obviously a lot more activity towards the end of the window.
“We’re prepared.
“It might be messy for us this year.
“Everyone is cool with that, we’re going to make sure we work through it, we’re going to make sure we maximise the opportunity we’ve got.
“We can still improve things as we build out this team.”
Wilson claimed that they are keen to get players in the door as quickly as possible in order to best prepare for the campaign ahead.
“But obviously the sooner we can the players for next season, the better, the more they can work with everybody here and adapt to their surroundings,” he added.
“As I said before, it’s a really important time because you don’t really get much training time during the season because you play so many games, recovering or preparing for the next one.
“So actually training and embedding, this is an important time.
“We’re doing our best to get them in as soon as possible.”
Sheffield Wednesday finished the Championship season with a tally of zero points due to being docked a combined total of 18 by the EFL.
The Owls finished bottom of the table, and their time in the second tier came to an end after three seasons.
Pedersen oversaw two wins in the league, the second of which only came on the final day in a 2-1 victory at home to West Brom.
Wilson has earned a lot of praise from supporters for giving an update on their current transfer plans.
Fans are also impressed by how transformative the changes behind the scenes have been, claiming it’s a world of difference compared to the previous regime.
Supporters also believe that this level of professionalism and attentiveness will be beneficial for the players in their preparation for the new campaign, breathing fresh life into the club.
Sheffield Wednesday will begin the new campaign on 15 August with a trip to face Leyton Orient.

This level of communication with the fans is a vast improvement on what they endured under Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, where there was no transparency on their plans for the first team.
While it is just a start, Arise Capital are showing a lot of promise for being able to bring Sheffield Wednesday forward again.
Wilson will be a crucial figure in turning things around at Hillsborough given his role in the recruitment process, and he comes across well in this message to the fans.
It might be messy at first, but this level of communication will earn some leeway from the fans, especially after the many frustrations they’ve endured in the previous few years.
