The Owls are still in administration, but David Storch's Arise consortium are vying to complete their takeover as soon as possible.

Wednesday were beaten 4-1 by Oxford United on Saturday, meaning that they will finish the season on zero points if they win against West Bromwich Albion in their final Championship game.

Henrik Pedersen's men were relegated to League One in February and have been deducted 18 points due to former owner Dejphon Chanisiri's mismanagement.

Prospective owner Storch is set to provide light at the end of the tunnel, though, while Football League World has taken a look at all the latest takeover news at Hillsborough.

Arise consortium set to continue key Sheffield Wednesday transfer strategy

Wednesday have been reliant on free-agent and loan signings this term, amid the restrictions imposed on them by the EFL, while their lack of squad depth has been a major contributing factor as to why they have earned just one win in 45 Championship attempts this term.

Despite their tough campaign, the Owls have enjoyed the services of talented loan stars, such as Jaden Heskey, whose parent club are Manchester City.

The South Yorkshire side will be active in the transfer market if and when Storch's takeover is completed, while Pedersen has made it clear that Wednesday will still make good use of loan players once they can make permanent acquisitions.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, the 48-year-old said: "Of course, it's a big advantage that we can have loan players who can help us in the situation where we are, but also for the coming years, that we can have loan players from a high level.

"And I think what we have done with more or less most of them, then we are a good place for the big clubs to send their young guys because they know they will be developed as a football player.

"They also know that we will take care of them as a human."

Henrik Pedersen reveals what Wednesday have already done ahead of summer transfer window

Some of the greatest difficulties Wednesday have faced because of Chansiri's wrongdoings have come in the last two transfer windows.

Before being disqualified as Owls owner, Chansiri consistently failed to pay player and staff wages on time, which led to several departures last summer, including that of former boss Danny Rohl.

The recent winter transfer window was not much easier for the S6 outfit, as Wednesday legend Barry Bannan joined Millwall, following more than a decade at Hillsborough.

Meanwhile, once Storch's transaction gets over the line, the South Yorkshire side will be able to enjoy the transfer market once again, and Pedersen has discussed his recruitment strategy with the Sheffield Star.

The Owls boss said: "Kevin (Beadell, head of recruitment), he's working in the background with his scouts who watched League One, he’s watched under-21 games, League Two.

"We try to cover as much as we can to be as well prepared as we can for all the free transfers, but also for the potential of more. If there should be something we can buy players with, we try to do all that we can to be as prepared as possible.

"But of course, we're looking forward to when the signature is done for the new owners, so we can start that process and execute and to go deeper on everything."

Wednesday supporters remain cautiously optimistic regarding Storch's takeover, while the American has impressed key figures at Hillsborough, including Pedersen.

Storch remains intent on completing his transaction on 1 May, which is this Friday, and the Owls faithful will be desperate to see the deal get over the line by the end of the week.

There will be an excellent atmosphere at Hillsborough for Wednesday's final day clash against West Brom if the Arise consortium get their deal over the line before the match.
