The three nominations for October’s Etihad Player of the Month award have been confirmed.

City remained unbeaten across the entire month, with victories over Arsenal and Liverpool in the Barclays Women’s Super League moving us to within one point of top spot.

We then signed off for October by taking another step towards qualification for the League Cup quarter-finals with a 6-7 penalty shootout win over Newcastle United following a 3-3 draw.

The Blues are now unbeaten in seven matches across all competitions, and we’ve taken on the challenge of selecting the usual three-player shortlist to vote from...

Iman Beney

Swiss teenager Beney’s excellent start to life at City continued across October, as she finished the month with two goals and two assists.

Beney came off the bench against Arsenal to grab the winner, picking up Bunny Shaw’s cutback and firing home to secure a 3-2 victory over the Gunners.

She was rewarded with a starting berth the following week against Liverpool and her lively performance out wide once again saw her find the net, as she pulled us level en route to an eventual 2-1 win.

But against Newcastle she turned provider, setting up Laura Coombs and Yui Hasegawa on Tyneside.

Aoba Fujino

Exciting winger Fujino has been at the centre of City’s impressive October performances, offering her typical blend of energy and creativity in attacking areas.

The Japan international scored the winning goal at Liverpool to secure an important three points, picking up Sydney Lohmann’s pass and sneaking an effort under Rafaela Borggrafe to seal a 2-1 triumph.

But her performances this season have been about far more than her end product, with Fujino often providing the spark for City in attacking areas with penetrating runs and excellent vision.

She’s also been crucial defensively, whether that’s in leading the press or supporting our back three.

Jade Rose

Another new signing who’s enjoyed a smooth transition into the cut and thrust of English football, Rose continues to catch the eye at the back for City.

A powerful and pacey centre-half, Rose has become a key figure in Andrée Jeglertz’s defence just two months into her professional career.

The Canada international was one of City’s standout performers in our win over Arsenal, keeping the considerable challenge of Alessia Russo relatively quiet at the Joie Stadium.

It was a similar story against Liverpool, where Rose once again put in an assured display from the back at Anfield. Her adaptation to the WSL has been very impressive.
