As per a report from journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon account, Paul Hurst's side are interested in bringing the 20-year-old to Shropshire and are leading the race to sign him on loan.
Vitek spent the second half of this season at Accrington Stanley, where he featured 18 times for the Lancashire side.
Having signed a new contract prior to that January loan move, the Red Devils seemingly see some sort of future for the stopper in the professional game, and Shrewsbury could be the next stop on his development.
At the ripe age of 20, Vitek still has a lot to build on in his game and the Red Devils have identified this.
The transfer team at Old Trafford have decided a loan to further his progress is currently the best option, and Shrewsbury are the most interested party right now.
With Harry Burgoyne leaving in the summer and Marko Marosi seemingly on his way out despite a new contract offer, Shrewsbury have identified Vitek as a top target.
At 6ft 5in, Czechia goalkeeper Vitek is a dominating presence and has recently become an under-21 youth international for his nation.
Having signed for Manchester United in 2020 from SK Sigma Olomouc, he has enjoyed some stellar seasons in the development sides, most notably in the 2022 FA Youth Cup win over Nottingham Forest where the youngster played in front of 67,000 people at Old Trafford.
Vitek's recently signed contract keeps him at Old Trafford until 2027, and Shrewsbury Town will be hopeful that they can sign the hot prospect for the 2024-25 season.
One thing that has become clear, is that Shrewsbury's priority target is to sign one if not two goalkeepers before the start of the campaign.
Marko Marosi has been a consistent performer for two seasons and Salop fans will be devastated to see him leave, but his departure will allow for the emergence of someone new.
As reported by the Shropshire Star, Salop are believed to have an extensive list of goalkeeper targets as they look to bring in two fresh faces.
The likelihood is that Town will have to look for the cheaper options with their current financial predicament seeing the club accrue a £3 million loss for the 2022-23 season, as per accounts that were released in March.
For the Shropshire-based club, dipping into the loan or free agent market fits the bill and, having been linked with Toby Savin and Joe Whitworth, the player that ends up arriving in-between the sticks will be interesting.
Having replaced Savin at Accrington, Vitek will surely be the option Salop fans will be after, but he faces competition in Whitworth.
The Crystal Palace youngster has already featured in two Premier League games in his career and has also won the accredited Premier League International Cup with the Eagles. A much different profile to that of Vitek, standing at just 5ft 9, Paul Hurst will have a difficult choice to make between the two young keepers.
