Marco Silva expressed his disappointment after Fulham were denied a penalty during their 3-1 Premier League defeat at Aston Villa today.
The London side started brightly when Raul Jimenez gave them the lead in the third minute, but Villa quickly turned the game around.
Ollie Watkins equalised before goals from John McGinn and Emi Buendia sealed victory for Unai Emery’s men.
The key moment came when Josh King’s effort struck Matty Cash on the arm inside the penalty area, but no spot-kick was awarded.
Speaking after the game, Silva refused to hold back his frustration at the refereeing decisions, particularly the failure to award a penalty.
“I will not make any comment,” he told Sky Sports. Everybody is going to talk. (Josh) King was in a good position to punish them.
“I was watching the moments now, for me, they are incredible. I respect them and they can try to explain everything they need to explain, but we cannot understand.”
He also felt Fulham should have had another penalty when goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez challenged King inside the box.
“Very difficult, being Fulham manager or not, that the tackle from Martinez is not a penalty,” Silva added. “If a player is tackled inside the box, it is a penalty everywhere in the world.”
The defeat leaves Fulham tenth in the Premier League table with eight points after six matches.
Silva and his players will now aim to bounce back in their upcoming league fixtures to stay within reach of the top half of the standings.
