Gustavo Siviero’s interim outing lasted one match, a bruising night at Son Moix marked by defeat, whistles and even a handkerchief protest. He could hardly be blamed for the backdrop, but the context was as hostile as it gets.
According to AS, Martín Demichelis watched from the directors’ box and his arrival is imminent, with an urgent change of course appearing necessary.
Mallorca were short of ideas and nerves showed from the first minute as the stands turned. Real Sociedad never looked to lose control and there was no reaction, little to distinguish this from the collapse days earlier at Estadio de Balaídos.
Siviero felt the performance was not as poor as it seemed, though he accepted his side lacked far more to trouble the visitors and had tried to grow from organisation. He acknowledged the atmosphere weighed and that conceding at home made it heavier.
He suggested the incoming coach would focus on the mental side and expressed confidence the situation will change. He also urged understanding for the discontent, saying the players must give more and, if possible, ask the fans for support.
This third straight defeat has deepened disenchantment rarely seen in the Balearic stadium, with whistles and chants of “directiva dimisión” ringing out. The margin for error is shrinking and the new project needs to start fast to halt a worrying trend.
