Bayern Munich interested in Sjoeke Nusken

German publication BILD have reported that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Sjoeke Nusken.

Bayern are thin in midfield after long-term injuries to Lena Oberdorf and Sarah Zadrazil.

Oberdorf suffered a cruciate ligament tear in October, just one month after returning from an ACL injury.

Nusken is open to a move away from Chelsea, but BILD reports that Nusken would prefer to move elsewhere than Bayern Munich.

It’s said she wants to move to a club that is favourite to win the Champions League. That would open up potential moves to Barcelona and Lyon.

Bayern Munich, to their credit, qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition by finishing fourth in the league phase.

The German giants will face the winner of the playoff clash between Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Nusken signed a contract extension with Chelsea until 2027 in October, but has found it tough for gametime this season.

Nusken’s struggles at Chelsea this season

Nusken, 24, was a regular at Chelsea across her first two years at the club.

However, she has made just one start in the WSL from four league appearances this season.

Nusken has been an unused sub in six of the 10 games that she has been available for selection.

This comes after missing just one of 22 games in each of Chelsea’s last two seasons.

So it is no surprise that Nusken might see her future outside of Chelsea, despite her contract extension in October.

Nusken hinted at a Chelsea exit before the season started.

When asked if she will move on from Chelsea, she said: “I’ve already asked myself that question.

“At the moment, I am currently at a good place at Chelsea to win titles. They also want me to extend.”

She added: “Last year, things didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped. Let’s see how it goes this year. After that, we’ll see – there are a few doors open where I can go.”

What’s next for Chelsea?

Chelsea are second in the WSL at the halfway stage, six points behind leaders Manchester City.

Sonia Bompastor’s side will be heavy favourites when they return to action against West Ham on January 11th.

It is unclear whether Nusken could leave the club in January, but she will be hoping for a lot more minutes during the second-half of the campaign if she stays.
