Manchester United are expected to make a mid-season move for Conor Gallagher amid his uncertain situation at Atletico Madrid.
Heading into the January window, the midfielder has garnered a lengthy list of suitors, primarily in the Premier League, where he wants to return to test his resolve after a year in Spain.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, English sides are expected to ‘queue up’ in pursuit of his signature this winter. The only teams uninterested in taking Gallagher on board are his former employers Chelsea, as well as Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.
Fans might recall that, back in the final week of the summer window, United had a loan offer rebuffed for Gallagher, as Atleti were only interested in facilitating a permanent sale.
It’s thought they maintain that stance, and would demand a fee in the region of the £34 million they shelled out for the 25-year-old last August.
In regard to his troubles in Madrid, Gallagher is navigating a reduced role under Diego Simeone this term, having started just twice in the opening 13 La Liga outings.
He recently held talks with Thomas Tuchel to gauge the feasibility of making England’s World Cup squad next year, during which the head coach informed him that his minutes must increase if he is to receive a call-up.
Unfortunately for United, though, Gallagher has set his sights on a new venture where he can continue playing European football, with him already featuring in all four of Atletico’s Champions League games.

“I have spoken to Thomas Tuchel and he has told me what he needs from me and what I have to do to return to the team. And it seems that, right now, it’s very difficult for me to get to that point,” said the Cobham graduate.
“But, as I said before, I will continue to do my best to get more minutes and, hopefully, return to the national team.”
