Sloane Stephens and Jozy Altidore to divorce after four years | OneFootball

Sloane Stephens has confirmed the end of her marriage to former football star Jozy Altidore after four years.

The player said in a post that they had decided to end their marriage, adding she is approaching the transition with mutual respect and asking for privacy. She also thanked supporters for their understanding.

They married on New Year’s Day in 2022 at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami Beach. The pair first met as children, reconnected in 2016, and got engaged in 2019.

Stephens and Altidore do not have children together, and Altidore has a child from a previous relationship. He scored 42 goals in 115 appearances for the United States men’s national team.

Stephens won the US Open women’s singles title in 2017, taking the final 6-3 6-0 after an 11-month foot injury layoff. She later called it her best day ever.
