Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided an update on Alexander Isak's injury after the Reds' 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The Swedish striker was injured by Micky van de Ven's tackle as he scored Liverpool's second of the game.

The summer signing had been a second-half substitute against 10-man Spurs (who finished the game with nine players on the pitch) but had to be replaced on the hour mark.

Speaking at a press conference, Slot gave an update on Isak: "It's going to be a long injury, for a couple of months. It's a big disappointment for him and, as a result, for us."

The Dutch manager was also unhappy with Van de Ven's challenge which led to Isak's fibula fracture.

"This was for me a reckless challenge. The tackle of Van de Ven – if you make that tackle 10 times, I think 10 times there is a serious chance that a player gets a serious injury."

After a poor run of form, Liverpool are now looking to make it four wins in a row, something they will expect to do when they host bottom-of-the-league Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
