Clarity is expected soon at FC Bayern regarding the contract negotiations with Harry Kane. For weeks, the Munich club has been negotiating with its star striker about extending his contract, which is set to expire in 2027. Now, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has hinted at a more specific timeline.

In principle, there appears to be broad agreement between both sides on the desire to continue their partnership. Kane has emphasized on several occasions that he feels at home in Munich. Bayern officials, too, make no secret of the fact that they want to keep their top striker for the long term.

However, no contract has been signed yet. During Bayern’s traditional Oktoberfest celebration, Dreesen once again commented on the status of the talks—and made it clear that the club hopes to reach a decision after the international break.

Dreesen: “We’re having productive talks”

“We’re in good talks,” explained the CEO. Kane is now to be given time to evaluate the negotiations so far. Afterward, however, Bayern doesn’t want to drag the issue out unnecessarily.

Dreesen made it clear that the contract negotiations should “slowly come to an end” after the international break. However, the Bayern boss did not guarantee that an agreement would be reached in October.

President Herbert Hainer had also recently expressed great confidence. “We want to extend his contract, and I also think that’s how it will turn out,” the 72-year-old explained.

Kane himself had also provided some insight into the negotiations a few days ago. The Englishman does not expect a decision anytime soon, but he emphasized that the talks are going well. He cited the next one to two months as a possible timeframe for reaching an agreement.

Contract length apparently remains the main issue

The main point of discussion is how long Kane should commit to FC Bayern this time. Various options have been circulating recently. An extension through 2029 is on the table, as is a new contract through 2030.

Given his performances, it comes as no surprise that the Munich club wants to keep the 33-year-old on the roster. Since his move from Tottenham, Kane has become one of the team’s most important players and continues to score goals consistently.

For now, the forward’s focus is on the English national team. Once he returns to Munich, however, contract talks are likely to quickly return to the agenda.

The direction is clear on both sides. Now it’s a matter of ironing out the final details. In any case, Dreesen’s statements show that FC Bayern hopes to turn the positive discussions into a final agreement soon.
