Shea Charles has said his goodbyes to Saints on social media after completing a £30million move to Premier League side Fulham.

Daily Echo understands the package comprises £26million plus £4million in add-ons, and that Saints inserted a significant 20 per cent sell-on clause. He has signed a five-year deal at Craven Cottage, with an option of a further year. There is also a 15 per cent clause due to Manchester City from the deal that took him to St Mary’s in 2023.

Charles joined Saints from Manchester City in 2023, making 76 appearances for the club.

The 22-year-old was a standout for Tonda Eckert’s side last term, scoring winners against Leicester City, Arsenal and Middlesbrough, and unleashing a screamer against Oxford United.

In his Instagram message he thanked team-mates, coaches and managers for their help, said they shared special moments, and told fans he was grateful for their support through the ups and downs. He signed off by wishing Saints all the best for the future.
