FC Bayern had an outstanding 2025–26 season and managed to sweep all three domestic titles. As a result, there’s no getting around the Bayern players—not only in terms of team performance but also when it comes to individual honors.
So it’s no surprise that *kicker* has now announced that Harry Kane has won the Footballer of the Year award. He succeeds Florian Wirtz, who claimed the title a year earlier before transferring to Liverpool FC.
This year, 659 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS) participated in the vote organized by the trade magazine.
Michael Olise, his teammate at FC Bayern, came in second behind Kane. Kane received 272 votes, while Olise received 203, which clearly shows that the rest of the field trailed far behind.

Deniz Undav, Joshua Kimmich, and Oliver Baumann took third, fourth, and fifth place among the players. So three FC Bayern players managed to finish at the very top.
Vincent Kompany was also honored, this time as Coach of the Year—and by a massive margin. His 314 votes out of a total of 653 valid votes relegated last year’s winner, Julian Schuster of SC Freiburg, and Sebastian Hoeneß of VfB Stuttgart to second and third place, respectively.
The record champion’s dominance in this vote comes as little surprise given its dominance on the field last season. After his first successful year, Coach Kompany took the record champion to an even higher level.
Kane and Kompany will receive their awards on Friday during the Bundesliga season opener against VfB Stuttgart at Munich’s Allianz Arena. The match kicks off at 8:30 p.m.
