Queens Park Rangers have endured three mixed blocks of form throughout the Championship season under Julien Stephan, with their current run of late hardly inspiring.

Rangers have now won just two of their last nine Championship outings - a run which was extended on Saturday as they held a struggling Sheffield United side to a goalless draw at Bramall Lane.

Such a run has also come after a period in which the West London side were viewed as potential play-off material under the Frenchman after an impressive string of results from late August to early October, negating what had been a disastrous start that included a 7-1 mauling at the hands of league leaders, Coventry City.

It must be said that Stephan has moulded what is still predicted to be, by many, a rather exciting new-look squad at Loftus Road during the opening months of his spell, with it also particularly evident on occasions as to how he is still respected for his body of work in the French top-flight - Ligue 1 - after impressive spells with Stade Rennais and RC Strasbourg,

There is hope that his tenure at W12 can yield similar success, although in order to do so, consistency must be added in several ways, which is certainly the viewpoint held by Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir.

Speaking to FLW, Moir continued to be full of optimism when it comes to what can be achieved by the W12 side between now and May, with several other Championship sides also enduring inconsistent starts to the campaign.

As such, despite the poor run which the Hoops are in the thick of, they are just six points outside the play-off places with 31 matches still to play, which only backs up the belief felt by some supporters despite the skepticism shown by others.

"I don't have any concerns about the manager," Moir said. "It's way too early in the season to even start thinking about that despite our bad run of form at the moment.

"I do believe we're a good side on a bad run. Hopefully, after the international break, we can come out of it with a fully fit squad and pick up wins like we had been doing," he added.

"We've proven we can beat teams who are up there and shown how good we can be. I just think, this run of form, it's not ideal, but there is excitement with players coming back to fitness. After the international break, everyone should be fully fit and there will be no excuses to kick on.

"I will say that we've not been great in the past few games," Moir stated. "Team selection has been a bit off sometimes. I don't agree with certain players who've started in some games and some who've come off the bench and not started in others.

"That's something Stephan has to get spot on, because team selection is crucial in this league," he claimed. "To build consistency, you have to put out the same team a lot of the time, and we're changing players every game, which has disrupted it.

"Kone started the season on fire, and now he's not scored for six or seven games and doesn't look the same. There may need to be a change of system as we're persisting with Burrell up top and Kone just behind, it's just not working and hasn't justified continuing it.

"He needs to be more consistent in his team selections and substitutions. There needs to be a clear style of play in certain games to become more consistent and to improve," our fan pundit explained.

"Realistically, with the squad we have, there's no reason we can't be there or thereabouts. It's too early to start voicing concerns about the manager, but let's see where we are in January and go from there.

"There's lots of new players, it's the manager's first time in England so it's all just connecting and way too early to be thinking about whether he's to blame."

Queens Park Rangers have the chance to restore momentum post-international break

It was reported that Stephan penned a two-year contract in June, meaning there is still plenty of time for Rangers to become way more consistent under his watch.

Of course, the 45-year-old hasn't been immune from criticism in the opening weeks of his tenure due to team selections. But, it's fair to say that he has been without the services of some key players, with Kwame Poku already sidelined for a second time, whilst Ilias Chair has recently returned to fitness and will hope to get back to the top of his game.

The international break now provides Stephan and the majority of his squad to address their recent slump and restore momentum ahead of the festive period, starting with a home fixture against Hull City on November 22nd.
