Le Havre beat Strasbourg 2-1 at the Stade Océane on Sunday to rise from 15th to 13th in Ligue 1.
In the 26th minute, Stephan Zagadou glanced in a header from a Sofiane Boufal corner to open the scoring. Ismaël Doukouré was then sent off with a straight red for the visitors (29.). Martial Godo levelled with a low strike from range (36.) before Issa Soumaré swept in Arouna Sangante's pass to restore the lead after the break (54.).
Mike Penders kept Le Racing in it with sharp stops, notably clawing away a Soumaré header before the interval, while Mory Diaw denied Sebastian Nanasi late on.
Play paused for treatment to Penders early on, adding to a spiky first half that also featured the dismissal.
Le Havre produced 15 attempts with seven on target as they pressed from set pieces and wide deliveries. Le Racing registered nine attempts and three on target.
Next, Le Havre host Toulouse. Le Racing visit Marseille.
