Source claims Arsenal tried "absolutely everything" to sign Vinicius Junior with historic offer | OneFootball

Arsenal reportedly did everything they could to try to sign Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior with what would have been a historic contract.

According to reliable Gunners source Hand of Arsenal on X, the Premier League champions went all in for Vini Jr, but will now explore other options as the Brazil international has decided to stay at the Bernabeu.

“Conversations around being the face of PL, sky rocketing his brand economically and globally and a true chance at winning the Ballon d’Or.

“He was presented with testing himself in the best league in the world and leading Arsenal for another UCL push.

“I have been critical of some of our movements in this market but this? The ownership / Berta / Mikel did absolutely everything to bring the best LW in world football to Arsenal.

“When the time is right we will talk about the backstory because it was a rollercoaster. The club, even as recent as yesterday were supremely confident because of the package and conversations they had with the player directly and his camp.”

Vinicius Junior decision is a blow for Arsenal

Even if few Arsenal fans would have imagined they’d have a realistic shot at signing Vinicius earlier in the summer, the fact is that this now feels like a real blow.

In a difficult market, Vini Jr was a genuine world class player entering the final year of his contract, and his arrival at the Emirates Stadium would have been nothing short of transformational for the club.

Now, however, Arsenal have to look again at the limited options out there to give them that missing piece of the jigsaw in their front line.

AFC urgently need an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli, while Christos Tzolis should be a decent squad player this season, but probably not more than that.

If Arsenal genuinely felt they could afford Vinicius, then perhaps they can now target another big name like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola, or Desire Doue.

However, these names are all under long-term contracts and that makes things trickier, and though they’d be similarly expensive to Vinicius, they probably wouldn’t generate quite the same buzz or offer as much of a genuine world class addition to Mikel Arteta’s side.
