South Africa Lead, Nigeria Chase, Benin Rise in Fierce Group C Battle
The Super Eagles of Nigeria kept their slim World cup hopes alive with narrow 1 - 0 victory over Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
After frustrating first half .. Nigeria finally broke the deadlock in the 67 minute when Tolu Arokodare who'd replaced Frank Onyeka at the break, struck the decisive goal.
The Super Eagles then held firm to secure maximum points in must win clash.
The result offered some relief for Nigeria after series of stumbles earlier in the campaign though the road to qualification remains steep.
Group rivals also victorious
Elsewhere South Africa consolidated their lead with commanding 3 - 0 triumph over Lesotho while Benin Republic overcame Zimbabwe to stay firmly in the playoff race.
That means Nigeria remain 3rd in Group C with 10 point from 7 match trailing Benin (11 point) & leaders South Africa (16 point).
Rwanda're fourth with 8 point followed by Lesotho on 6 and Zimbabwe bottom with 4.
