Southampton and Rangers are interested in Estoril’s Antef Tsoungui.
ESPN reports that the 23-year-old is on both clubs’ lists and that Estoril want €5-6m. He has been described as a midfielder, though he is widely listed as a defender.
He is viewed as a defensive midfielder who has also operated at centre-back. He came through Brighton’s academy, moved to Feyenoord, then settled at Estoril.
The link aligns with Southampton’s search after selling Shea Charles to Fulham for up to £30m. Jordan James moved out of reach when Wolves booked his medical on Wednesday, while Dan Gore is part of a four-way race involving Celtic, Sheffield United and Swansea.
Fitness and selection have tightened options. Caspar Jander limped off in the friendly at Eastleigh and was absent from training by Wednesday. Cameron Bragg started at Vicarage Road with Flynn Downes and set up Cyle Larin’s goal.
A €5-6m option in Portugal fits the late-August market, when preferred targets are gone and the rest cost far more. Central midfield was flagged as a summer priority. The current noise should be treated as a live enquiry, and if Rangers move first, Southampton could miss out again.
