Southampton have made their first signing ahead of the 2026 summer window, turning Daniel Peretz’s loan into a permanent move from Bayern Munich for around £6.5-7m on a four-year deal. The club said in a statement that the Israeli goalkeeper had joined despite interest from elsewhere.
Peretz’s loan underpinned their strong finish to 2025/26. He made 26 appearances, losing only twice, on his league debut and in the FA Cup semi-final against eventual winners Manchester City.
The 25-year-old quickly grew attached to the south coast, describing the past few months as home and the togetherness as decisive. He dreams of the Premier League but places even greater value on pursuing that ambition with Southampton.
Technical director Johannes Spors welcomed the deal, emphasising Peretz’s presence and the confidence that spreads through the defence. He also underlined the keeper’s commitment in the face of other options and a plan to build on last season’s progress.
Peretz played on Wednesday for Israel and now breaks for the summer before reporting to Staplewood for pre-season. The signing is a clear statement as Saints move on from the Spygate saga that hovered for weeks and look towards an active window.
