Southampton confirm Joe O'Brien-Whitmarsh's permanent move to Northampton Town | OneFootball

Southampton have confirmed that 21-year-old midfielder Joe O'Brien-Whitmarsh has joined League Two Northampton Town on a permanent deal. He has signed a three-year contract at Sixfields.

It is understood a number of EFL clubs were interested in the midfielder. He was signed from Cork City in January 2024.

He spent pre-season with the first team and travelled to Germany for Saints' training camp.

O'Brien-Whitmarsh has two senior appearances for Saints. He made his debut in the League Cup in 2024 and also featured in last season's FA Cup win over Leicester City.

He later joined League Two Accrington Stanley on loan for the second half of the 2024/25 season. He impressed, making 13 appearances and scoring three goals.
