Southampton beat Coventry United 3-0 to move within two points of Barclays Women’s Championship leaders Bristol City.
Saints have played a game more than the top side, while Coventry have lost all their eight league games so far.
The home side had tied tied up the points by the break in front of 2,000 fans at St Mary’s, with a Katie Wilkinson hat-trick, her first three goals for Southampton coming against her former team.
Opening her account on the half-volley after only 27 seconds, Wilkinson’s second came following an initial block, before she turned in Megan Collett’s cross four minutes later.
