Southampton made an awful decision at the weekend involving Adam Armstrong. How embarrassing for everybody involved.

Southampton recently hosted Brentford in the Premier League. Unfortunately for the Saints, it was yet another "when will it end?" type of performance.

In the end, Southampton were hammered 0-5, but that didn't prevent the club from putting the players through further humilation after the full-time whistle.

Well, there was one player in particular who was forced into facing the limelight. Through no individual fault of his own, Adam Armstrong was the front and centre of a Southampton laughing stock in the public eye.

A video which has circulated social media has shown Adam Armstrong presenting an award to a Southampton fan who guessed the scoreline before the match commenced. Yep, a Southampton fan was presented an award by a Southampton player, after predicting the 0-5 hammering.

It is one of those videos where as a Southampton fan, it's even hard not to laugh. So, it's easy to see why the club has been the butt of the joke from rival and neutral fans. They really don't help themselves.

The video was posted by Hugo Scheckter, who formerly helped Southampton with their Player Care, alongside other clubs such as, you guessed it, Brentford. It was Scheckter's mother who accurately predicted the scoreline and was handed the award by Adam Armstrong.

The video was met with ironic jeers from fans within the suite as the lottery-winner walked up to collect the award.

Adam Armstrong, who presented the award, clearly looked uncomfortable. Of course, he remained professional and carried out his task. However, for obvious reasons, he would've preferred not to be in the public eye after the embarrassing result.

Look, I can *kind of* understand the reason behind the Southampton officials, who were in charge of this event going ahead. They had made a promise and fan-interaction such as this is customary in hospitality and VIP suites.

However, at the same time, I am sure that everybody who offered a prediction to the scoreline would have been content with the prize not being presented by a player.
