Southampton have rejected another Aston Villa bid for Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The Athletic reports the clubs remain in negotiations.
Villa want a new centre-back after Ezri Konsa joined Arsenal in a 60 million euro deal, and have made the England international a priority. Their latest proposal was a significant increase on an initial 21 million euros plus add-ons, which Southampton had already turned down earlier in the week.
Benfica had tracked Harwood-Bellis but have moved on, opting for Alessandro Circati to strengthen their defence.
Villa have two other centre-back options on their list. One is Joel Ordoñez of Club Brugge, who is said to have been approached by Unai Emery’s side. The Ecuador international featured at the 2026 World Cup.
With Villa intent on recruiting at centre-back, Harwood-Bellis remains a strong possibility, while Benfica observe from distance after selecting Circati.
