West Ham have had a loan bid for Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis rejected, Sky Sports has reported.

The 24-year-old is believed to be open to the move, but Southampton are keen to keep hold of him and will only consider letting him leave if their terms are improved.

Harwood-Bellis has been a regular for Saints this season, starting their past 17 league matches. He joined the club on loan from Manchester City in 2023 and helped them win promotion to the Premier League, which triggered a £20m permanent move. Despite Southampton’s relegation in 2025, the centre-back has remained an important part of the squad.

His performances were rewarded with an England debut in November 2024, when he scored on his first appearance for the national side.

West Ham are looking to strengthen their defence before the transfer window closes, with the club still involved in a relegation battle despite winning their last two league games. They sit 18th in the Premier League.

The Hammers have also explored a move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi. However, Chelsea would prefer to sell the 27-year-old rather than allow him to leave on loan, with Roma and Lyon previously showing interest.

West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday as they look to build momentum in their fight for survival.
