Southampton ‘to finalise’ Damion Downs loan to St Louis City | OneFootball

Southampton are reportedly finalising a loan exit for Damion Downs before tomorrow's transfer window deadline.

The Athletic reports that MLS side St Louis City is his likely destination as the 22-year-old returns to the United States to revive his career.

Downs joined from FC Köln last summer for around £7 million after impressing in Germany's 2. Bundesliga. He made 14 appearances for Saints without scoring.

That led to a mid-season loan to Hamburg in January, where he again failed to find the net in 12 matches.

He returned earlier this summer and featured in pre-season, but has not figured in Tonda Eckert's plans and has missed all five matchday squads. St Louis are sixth in the Western Conference and have played 22 regular-season games.
