Southampton have already wrapped up permanent deals for Daniel Peretz, Cyle Larin and George Long, and a fresh move in the number ten area could follow. TransferFeed.com reports that Callum O'Hare has been identified as a surprise option to compete with Finn Azaz.

The club are pushing a mini rebuild this summer under Dragan Solak, aiming to sharpen a promotion bid after the Spygate saga. Azaz impressed but looked overworked late in the Championship campaign, so extra creativity is being explored.

O'Hare, 28, currently with Sheffield United and previously of Coventry City after coming through Aston Villa, brings proven Championship nous. He produced 16 goal contributions for the Blades in a season that ended in 13th place.

Azaz remains the Irishman at the head of the queue, after 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions last term. The idea is more support, not replacement, across a long year.

Capable of operating as a number ten, off the left or slightly deeper, O'Hare also banked 22 goals and 30 assists during his Coventry stay. If the rumour holds, he could be a strong deputy who raises standards, and at 28 a switch south could appeal as a route towards Premier League football.
