Southampton could turn to Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh this summer, with the Dane viewed as a potential fit. SportsBoom reports that the 25-year-old, rated at €15-18m, is on the club’s radar.
Tonda Eckert's side are two points off the top six after four wins in five, and they host former boss Nathan Jones and Charlton Athletic at St Mary's on Saturday.
On-loan forward Cyle Larin has scored in each of the last two matches, and sporting director Johannes Spors will be aware of the need to plan for a replacement, even if it is for another year in the Championship.
Hogh has 43 goals and 12 assists in 83 games for Bodo, and his Champions League displays have raised his profile. He struck twice in a 3-1 win over Manchester City, then hit the winner in a 2-1 victory against Atletico Madrid that sealed a playoff with Inter Milan.
St Mary's has been kind to Scandinavian strikers, with Egil Ostenstad prolific at the Dell in the 90s. Spors has also recruited astutely of late, adding Caspar Jander, Léo Scienza and Joshua Quarshie, with only Damion Downes underwhelming from the summer cohort.
Southampton’s prospects of landing Hogh might improve with promotion, as the forward is entering his peak and may not fancy Championship football. Should they secure him, it would signal intent, and a £15.7 million outlay would be seen as modest in their current context.
