Southampton will be targeting promotion back to the Premier League this season.

The Saints are in their second year back in the Championship, and will have their sights on being in the mix for a top two finish.

Tonda Eckert’s side finished fourth in the standings in 2025/26, but their promotion hopes were dashed when they were expelled from the competition.

The Hampshire outfit were found guilty of breaching the EFL’s rules against spying on opposition training sessions, which also led to a four points deduction penalty.

But the club will still be confident of fighting for promotion in 2026/27 given their strong form at the end of the previous campaign, as well as the additions they’ve made to the squad this summer.

Southampton target Louey Ben Farhat

It has been reported by Sky Sports Germany that Southampton are chasing the signature of Louey Ben Farhat from Karlsruher.

It’s believed that Eintracht Frankfurt are also among the clubs who are keen on the striker this summer.

Lille, Bournemouth and RB Salzburg have also been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old, although Frankfurt are currently the front-runners to his signature.

It’s understood that Karlsruher are seeking €10 (£8.6) million for the forward, who contributed six goals and two assists from 20 appearances in 2. Bundesliga last season.

Ross Stewart contract claim

According to journalist Alfie House, Ross Stewart turned down a contact offer from Southampton to make the switch to Swansea City.

The forward’s deal with the Saints expired at the end of June, but the club had an extension on the table that was ultimately rejected.

The Scot instead favoured a three-year contract with the Swans, signing for the Championship side as a free agent.

Stewart scored eight goals from 25 league appearances last season, as well as in the 2-1 aggregate win over Middlesbrough in the play-off semi-finals.

Southampton face Sam Edozie interest

It has been reported by Football Insider that Sam Edozie is attracting transfer interest from clubs abroad and in the Championship.

It’s believed that Copenhagen and Paderborn have both enquired about the winger as we approach the final weeks of the window.

And rivals sides in the second tier are also interested in the 23-year-old, with the player now in the final year of his contract.

Edozie spent last season on loan at Anderlecht, but has returned and could have a role to play in Eckert’s first team plans.

Southampton eye Daniel Jebbison deal

According to the Bournemouth Echo, Southampton are among the clubs eyeing a deal for forward Daniel Jebbison.

The Saints face competition from Birmingham City and Wrexham for the 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Preston North End.

The striker contributed six goals and two assists from 38 appearances in the Championship.

Genoa and Hamburg are also understood to be keen on the forward, who has struggled to break into the first team squad at Bournemouth.
