Southampton conclude pre-season in Germany against third-tier side SC Preußen Münster this afternoon, kick-off at two o'clock. The game is on Saints Play for five pounds and is the last warm-up before a Carabao Cup trip to League Two Colchester.
According to Sainstmarching.com, Mads Roerslev and Shea Charles have been promised minutes and could start. Damion Downs has a minor knock and Cyle Larin has yet to join up. Tonda Eckert must choose up front between Cameron Archer, Ben Brereton-Diaz and Nicholas Oyekunle.
The FA decision still waits, and former referees chief Keith Hackett expects a six-game ban keeping Eckert out for the opening month. Nothing has been confirmed, and Southampton continue to back him. They start on minus four points.
The Shea Charles stand-off continues. Leeds have been told their latest bid falls short, with Southampton holding near £30m after turning down offers around £20m and £23m. Crystal Palace and Fulham are monitoring and the midfielder wants a Premier League move.
Leo Scienza has spoken about his future, saying he feels "very comfortable" on the south coast, per the Daily Echo. Southampton are in no mood to sell cheap and value him around £35m after a season of seven goals and 10 assists in the Championship.
With the season two weeks away and Watford first, the verdict looms. There is little precedent and the club hopes for a lighter or suspended punishment that could let him lead from the touchline. A win in Münster today might steady the mood.
