Southampton youngster outlines plans for first-team push | OneFootball

Southampton teenager Thierry Small has revealed how he plans to break into the first-team set-up next season after a successful first season at the club.

The 17-year-old arrived at St.Mary’s from Everton last summer and has been performing well for the club’s B team, scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland in the final match of the Premier League 2 season this weekend.

It was the left-back’s third strike of the campaign and speaking to the club website he revealed his delight as his inaugural season as he looks ahead to bigger and better things.

“It’s been a positive year, being with the first-team, every day you learn a lot.

“You learn little tricks, you start to understand that it’s not about individuality but working as a team, learning little things to get an advantage over the opponent.

“I just want to keep getting my head down, hopefully I can start to become a regular and push on with the first-team.”

Small has appeared as an unused sub for three of Southampton’s Premier League games this season and also his made his first-team debut in the FA Cup fourth round win over Coventry in February.
