Southampton's Eckert awaiting update after FA Spygate hearing | OneFootball

Saints boss Tonda Eckert is awaiting the verdict from an FA hearing into his role in the Spygate scandal following proceedings at Wembley.

Daily Echo reports that Eckert, 33, and his legal team attended the FA’s Wembley headquarters earlier this week and that Southampton are still awaiting the outcome and any potential further action.

The German has been charged with three breaches of Rule E3.1 for misconduct, for acting improperly and bringing the game into disrepute.

The charge follows his admission that he authorised training ground spying missions on three different Championship opponents last season.

Although the hearing took place on Thursday, an update could be delayed into next week, even as those involved would prefer a quicker resolution.

Last week, Eckert said he expected a decision during the international break, describing the process as dragging on and adding that he thought clarity would come soon.

Meanwhile, Saints are playing Premier League side Aston Villa in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Bodymoor Heath today.
