Earlier this week, the FIFA World Cup draws were officially made and thus provided teams from across the globe with their potential paths to the final.

Needless to say, it was a massive moment for several players in the Real Madrid dressing room as well, for the club have representation from federations including those in England, Spain, France, Germany, and Belgium among others.

As a Spanish club first and foremost, the spotlight does fall on the likes of Dani Carvajal and Dean Huijsen who will likely be involved in the event.

Needless to say, others like Alvaro Carreras and Dani Ceballos will be looking to make a last-minute surge as well.

De la Fuente’s interview

Speaking to MARCA in a recent interview, the national team manager Luis de la Fuente opened up on Dani Carvajal’s injury and how he was optimistic that the veteran would return in time for the World Cup.

“I’m worried about the health of my players. I’ve always said it. There will surely be setbacks in March, April, and May, when there is less time to recover.

Now, if there are injuries, there is a margin,” he began, backing the veteran to have enough time.

“Those of Rodri or Dani [Carvajal] are important and that type of injury generates problems during recovery.

But there is a lot of time left and I am convinced that they will be in good condition to be selected,” he added.

Issue between Yamal and Carvajal

He then addressed the rift between Carvajal and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal which began in El Clasico and whether or not he saw it to affect the dressing room environment.

“No. There I take care of keeping the coexistence healthy. I have talked to both of them and I know that these are things that happen in football, at such a competitive level.”

“You have to distinguish between what happens in the field and what it means to be in the selection.

They know it and are looking forward to seeing each other to give each other a hug,” he added.

Finally, the manager was asked if the next international break was the final chance for players like Alvaro Carreras who dream of entering the loop before the World Cup.

“No, because they are football players that I know well,” he began.

“I also know Alvaro, even though he hasn’t played with me. Whoever comes will do so as normal; they know that I know them and that they won’t feel out of place,” he added.
