Fabián Ruiz has this weekend continued his climb up a historic list of international football players.
This comes after the Paris Saint-Germain standout played his part in Spain’s comfortable victory over Georgia.
Luis de la Fuente’s troops are fresh off kicking their schedule for the November international break into gear in a World Cup qualifying meeting with minnows Georgia.
Midfielder Ruiz for his part featured from the off in the fixture, impressing en route to an eventual 4-0 Spanish romp.
And as alluded to above, in the process, the 29-year-old kept alive nothing short of a historic streak.
As revealed by statistician MisterChip, Ruiz has overtaken French icon Zinedine Zidane to move into 3rd place on the list of players to have racked up the most successive international appearances without tasting defeat.
The former Napoli man has not been condemned to the wrong side of the result in any of his last 40 outings with Spain.
The only two players to have managed superior runs come in the form of Carlos Marchena (Spain) and Garrincha (Brazil).
