Spain women to play Ukraine in Türkiye despite squad unease | OneFootball

Spain women will face Ukraine in Antalya on Saturday at 18:00 despite unease in the dressing room. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a long day of meetings in Las Rozas between the squad, the RFEF and FIFA ended with no change to the plan.

The players had misgivings about travelling to Türkiye for the fixture. The trip, initially set for Thursday, was moved to Friday, with suspension even considered amid tension in the country after Türkiye announced on Wednesday that NATO air defences had downed an Iranian missile over its territory.

There was palpable anxiety within the Spain camp, and after talks with the captains and political authorities the venue was kept. The players had repeatedly expressed their fears since Wednesday.

Following a meeting led by Real Federación Española de Fútbol president Rafael Louzán with the squad and coaching staff, the full delegation will fly to Türkiye on Friday.

The match forms the second round of qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil.
