Spain are seeking to retain the UEFA Nations League when La Roja take on Portugal in the 2025 final tonight.
Luis de la Fuente’s side beat France in a thrilling semi-final tie earlier this week, eventually prevailing 5-4 in a nine-goal thriller. La Roja were more comfortable than the scoreline suggested, however, racing into four-goal lead inside the opening 55 minutes before easing up.
Spain are unbeaten across all competitions since March 2024, a run that includes success at Euro 2024 last summer. The Spanish are bidding to win a third consecutive tournament, ahead of facing their Iberian rivals in Munich tonight.
Portugal are also seeking a second Nations League crown after becoming the tournament’s inaugural winners in 2019. Roberto Martinez’s side eliminated final hosts Germany in the semi-finals.
Lamine Yamal strengthened his case for the Ballon d’Or with a two-goal performance in the win over France. The 17-year-old is a contender to become the youngest-ever winner of the award in 2025. Tonight, he faces five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time.
Mikel Oyarzabal earned the nod over captain Alvaro Morata at centre-forward and registered two assists. He is expected to retain his place. Fabian Ruiz could also come back into the side with the Champions League winner starting from the bench against France.
Spain predicted XI: Simon; Porro, Le Normand, Cubarsi, Cucurella; Zubimendi, Ruiz, Pedri; Yamal, Oyarzabal, Williams.
Portugal take on Spain in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday 8th June 2025. Kick-off at the Allianz Arena in Munich is 8pm BST.
