Spain have made history again, adding a second star to their shirt in the United States, Canada and Mexico, 16 years after South Africa. The world champions will celebrate in Madrid this evening.
According to Superdeporte, the squad landed on Monday and will rest at their hotel before institutional receptions at the Zarzuela Palace with King Felipe VI and at the Moncloa Palace with prime minister Pedro Sánchez.
The party is scheduled to begin at 19:00, when the champions start an open-top bus parade through the city’s most emblematic streets, on a route similar to the one after the Euros. A stage beside the Palacio de Comunicaciones will host festivities while fans await the team, whose arrival is expected at 21:00.
From there, the bus will continue to Plaza de Cibeles for the main act with supporters. A special set-up will allow the players to be with the crowd and present the trophy.
The celebration will be shown live on TVE and streamed via RTVE Play. Coverage on RNE and a minute-by-minute service on RTVE Noticias will also follow events, with broadcasts planned from 20:00.
