Spalletti pushes Juventus for Sorloth despite Kolo Muani arrival | OneFootball

Juventus have not given up on Alexander Sørloth, with Luciano Spalletti still keen to add the Atlético Madrid striker even after the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, and a deal that could hinge on the future of Nico González.

According to Tuttosport, Spalletti has long admired Sørloth as the kind of penalty-box target man his system craves, and personally contacted the Norway international to outline his plans.

Talks with Atlético had been opened under the previous regime of Damien Comolli and Marco Ottolini, and Sørloth was said to be enthusiastic about a move to Turin, only for Juventus’s boardroom upheaval, Comolli’s exit and the arrivals of chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara, to slow everything down.

Atlético’s valuation of around €40m has been a further obstacle.

Sørloth deal linked to Nico González’s Atlético switch

In recent days, though, the dialogue has been revived through Nico González.

The Argentine has made no secret of his wish to reunite with Diego Simeone, and Atlético continue to pursue him, but Juventus want at least €30m to open negotiations.

A discount could be on the table, with one condition attached: that Atlético sanction a paid loan of Sørloth in the other direction. For Juventus, the logic is neat, with Kerim Alajbegović’s signing crowding an already busy forward line and nudging González towards the exit.

The numbers explain Spalletti’s persistence. Over the last three seasons Sørloth has posted returns even better than Kolo Muani’s, 26 goals for Villarreal, then 24 and 20, before becoming a luxury option at Atlético, where Julián Álvarez leads the line.

The Argentine wants to work with Simeone again; the Norwegian, by contrast, is intrigued by the prospect of playing for Spalletti. Juventus and Atlético are now studying a formula that suits both coaches, and, above all, both balance sheets.
