Spare a thought for Yang after terrible way he was treated on Monday

Now, your opinion of Yang the player may be that he is not good enough for Celtic and should be sold. This is a valid opinion to hold, and I agree with that sentiment, but spare a thought for the lad who has been treated appallingly by the club over the past couple of weeks.
He has been completely hung out to dry. Blocking a move on DEADLINE DAY for a player that the manager insisted he was more than happy to move on after agreeing a fee with Birmingham City seems wholly unprofessional. Also, what is his confidence going to be like now when we will have to rely on his contribution until January?
This is tawdry treatment of a guy who for the past two years has given as good as he’s got in a Celtic jersey. And yes, the quality might has not always be on show, but his commitment to the club is not in question. That of course is a non-negotiable, but despite being messed about by the club, Yang has still acted as professionally as he can during a turbulent period for himself personally.
Treating your own players like this is exactly the reason we are now a laughing stock to agents and clubs across Europe. This is now common knowledge and should concern every Celtic supporter.

Also, this is not something new. Former Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist faced a similar situation.
Siegrist – who voiced frustration with Celtic’s transfer activity last month in an interview – shared an Instagram story on Monday night after the window closed, writing ‘Some things never change’ alongside a laughing emoji and a four-leaf clover. You’re right Benji, they don’t.
Siegrist stated that the Celtic board dismissed interest from another side when he arranged his exit from the club in January 2024. And, I have no doubt this has happened once again to Yang.
A reminder of what Siegrist had to say on the board blocking his move: “Some people on the Celtic board just didn’t respond to any of the inquiries from the other team,” he told The Bondi Podcast.
Asked about the board’s silence regarding his own transfer, Siegrist responded curtly, ‘Good question.’

Now, Yang may move on from the club in the coming days given there is interest in Belgium, and their transfer window doesn’t shut until Saturday but the damage has already been done.
It’s a red flag. There also seems to be a pattern developing of treating good professionals abysmally. Once again, it is the people at the top who are dragging the reputation of this club on and off the pitch into the gutter and the transfer window just gone is the final straw for many supporters.
