Tottenham survived on the final day of a turbulent Premier League season, edging Everton 1-0 in a tense, nervy encounter that secured their top-flight status and consigned West Ham to relegation instead.

Spurs knew a point would be enough to guarantee safety, and from the outset there was a sense of urgency that had often been missing throughout a difficult campaign.
