Spurs ease past Copenhagen to maintain unbeaten start

Tottenham Hotspur produced their most convincing European display of the season, sweeping aside FC Copenhagen 4–0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to remain unbeaten in the Champions League group stage.

Thomas Frank’s side were dominant from the start, dictating play with purpose and precision. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring in the 19th minute, calmly slotting home after Xavi Simons’ perfectly weighted pass exposed a hesitant Dominik Kotarski in the Copenhagen goal.

Spurs should have extended their advantage before the interval, with Randal Kolo Muani twice going close - first firing wide from close range and later heading over from a teasing Simons delivery.

The visitors’ goalkeeper endured a torrid night and was at fault again early in the second half, racing out of his box only for Kolo Muani to charge down his clearance. The French forward showed quick thinking to recover the loose ball and square for Wilson Odobert, who tapped in from close range to make it 2–0.

Johnson’s dismissal just six minutes later – upgraded to a red card after a VAR check for a late challenge on Marcos López - might have shifted the momentum. Instead, it only inspired Spurs to push on.

Micky van de Ven stole the headlines with a remarkable solo goal in the 64th minute, charging from inside his own half before slotting beyond Kotarski to all but seal the points. Three minutes later, Jo?o Palhinha added a fourth, turning home a Cristian Romero cross as Tottenham punished another lapse at the back.

Richarlison hit the crossbar twice late on, including once from a penalty, after Dane Scarlett was fouled in the area. The result leaves Tottenham on eight points from four matches in the group stage, with two wins and two draws.
