Spurs injury worry as defender withdraws from national team squad

Tottenham defender Jan Paul van Hecke has withdrawn from the Netherlands squad after suffering a foot injury.

The 26-year-old picked up the problem during the Netherlands’ win over Serbia on Sunday and will now miss the Netherlands’ upcoming international fixtures.

Van Hecke’s withdrawal will be a concern for Tottenham, with the defender having established himself as an important part of Roberto De Zerbi’s side since joining from Brighton this summer.

The extent of the injury is not yet clear, with Spurs now set to assess him ahead of the return of Premier League football.
