Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, with the Argentine centre-back expected to arrive on a free transfer this summer.

Reports suggest Spurs have been working on the move for several months, and the deal is now entering its final stages.

The 29-year-old is believed to have agreed a four-year contract in North London, becoming Tottenham’s second major addition of the window following their move for Andy Robertson.

Senesi was a key figure for Bournemouth last season, featuring in 37 Premier League matches as the Cherries secured a historic sixth-place finish and qualified for the Europa League for the first time. Despite his impressive form, he was left out of Argentina’s World Cup squad this summer.

Liverpool had previously shown interest in the defender, but Tottenham moved quickly to secure an agreement. Spurs see Senesi as an experienced option to strengthen their back line after a difficult league campaign last season.
