And having joined Hamburg on loan for the campaign, the youngster is already proving why there is so much hype around him.

He was named September’s Bundesliga Rookie of the Month, the award given to the best player under 23-years-old on the first matchday of the season who has not been in a starting line-up in any previous Bundesliga season.

And it is clear to see why. He has helped the newly promoted club to a solid start to the season with two, wins, two draws and two defeats.

He shone in Hamburg’s 0-0 draw at Union Berlin on September 28, winning 18 aerial duels to help his side keep out the opposition.

According to data from FBref, Vuskovic has won the third most aerial duels in the Bundesliga this season with 27. He also has the fourth highest aerial duels won percentage at 84.4%.

His performances have earned him a call up to the latest Croatia squad for the games against Czechia and Gibraltar, and his national team boss has offered some huge praise for the defender.

“A huge talent, he plays excellently in the Bundesliga, and that’s why he got a chance in the senior national team,” Zlatko Dalic said.

“I think he should be with us to feel the atmosphere and what awaits him. With him, Croatia secures its centre-back for the next 10-15 years.”

He has also shown he is comfortable on the ball. In the game against Union, he had the most successful passes of any player on the pitch with 88, as well as the most touches with 122. He has regularly had the most passes and touches of any Hamburg player in games this season.

Of course, he is still young and improving. The 5-0 thrashing by Bayern Munich was a difficult outing for the youngster, as it was for the rest of his side.

But at 18, he is already matching up physically to players much older than him, and Spurs fans should have plenty of reason to be excited.
