St Etienne chief Loic Perrin has confirmed interest in Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Palace signed Mateta permanently from Mainz, though was also interesting St Etienne.

Perrin told L'Equipe: "The first file on the table was that of Jean-Philippe Mateta. After reaching an agreement with him and staying in constant contact, he started playing and scoring in England.

"Crystal Palace has exercised the purchase option of €11m before he plays his 17 matches.

"Good for him."
