Go Ahead Eagles beat Excelsior 1-0 in Rotterdam to rise from 13th to 12th in the Eredivisie, with the hosts slipping to 15th.

The deadlock was broken in the 54th minute when Soren Tengstedt swept in a left-footed finish from the right side of the box after Richonell Margaret's pass.

Excelsior responded, with Noah Naujoks' header saved low by the Supereagles keeper Jari de Busser (71.). Miliano Jonathans then struck the left post (78.) as the visitors clung on.

Szymon Wlodarczyk was denied in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time as de Busser preserved the points. Moments later, Stan Henderikx fired just over in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time.

Excelsior posted 19 attempts and 58.3% possession but lacked a finish. The Supereagles made 45 clearances and de Busser produced seven saves.
