St. Louis City’s mess just went from bad to public

Article image:St. Louis City’s mess just went from bad to public

Everybody knows that St Lois City SC sucks. Heck, even the St Louis fans won't campaign against that anymore: They've really let the fanbase down in 2025.

At this point in time, after losing to FC Dallas yesterday, St Louis sits second-from-bottom in MLS' Western Conference. They are only better than the LA Galaxy, but St Louis has played a game more than the Galaxy.

And look, the Galaxy is infamously bad. They're one of the more popular MLS teams, and they should be doing better, but they're constantly roasted for stinking out the MLS this season.

St Louis hasn't been much better than them, though.

St. Louis City’s mess is screaming at us all in the face

Yesterday, St Louis registered 41 shots, but scored just one goal. That is an abysmal record, and one that should be hung in the Hall of Shame, quite frankly.

St Louis had the perfect opportunity to secure their sixth win of the season. They faced a Dallas side that, let's face it, isn't great either. Not only were Dallas coming into the game with poor form, but Dallas were also down to 10 on-field players after Michael Collodi was shown the red card after just 16 minutes.

And St Louis did capitalize on that red card by scoring shortly after when Brazilian Célio Pompeu netted for St Louis just after the half-hour mark. The feeling was great after that goal: A celebratory "we've got this now" feeling...

... That lasted for a whole two minutes.

Then, Dallas equalized. Peta Musa scored at the 34' mark, and then, understandably, Dallas sat back and defended.

See, Dallas was realistic in expecting nothing more than one point, and they fought hard for that point.

So too did St Louis, but in the end, they looked like the real losers. They should have won that match against 10 players, but instead, they tried their best but didn't succeed.

But unlike the famous Coldplay song, lights didn't guide St Louis home; they guided St Louis to its seventh draw of the season. From drawing games alone, that's 14 points dropped. That sucks.

But what is St Louis' biggest problem right now? Is it the fact that they're lacking a leader through their Head Coach vacancy that's taken an entire lifetime to fill? Yeah, maybe.

However, the biggest problem right now is that St Louis do not have the mentality to see out matches.

Despite what 41 shots with only one goal might appear to tell you, St Louis can score. They just cannot see out matches after they've scored, and that's their biggest downfall.

Right now, the St Louis players have nothing to fight for. Perhaps the identity of the club can change when that Head Coach is appointed.
