St. Pauli have suffered a double injury setback before Friday’s trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach, with Manolis Saliakas and James Sands ruled out. The club said in a statement that both will miss the match.
Both picked up knocks in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Alexander Blessin’s side lost Saliakas to a minor structural injury to his right thigh during a sprint at the start of the second half.
Sands went off on 80 minutes after a foul by Ritsu Dōan. Tests on Tuesday, 10 March revealed ligament damage in his left ankle, and he will be out for the time being.
No timeline has been given for Sands. Saliakas could be fit in time to host SC Freiburg on Sunday, 22 March.
The setbacks are a blow for the Kiezkickers, who sit 16th in the relegation play-off place, a point behind 12th-placed Gladbach.
