Stade Rennais opened their modernised La Piverdière 2 training centre on Friday, a significant step for the club’s future.

According to L'Équipe, the inauguration followed the handover of a building dedicated to the club’s Academy, which is well represented with Les Bleus.

While awaiting a new stadium or an expanded Roazhon Park, the club marked a milestone by unveiling the refurbished complex after more than two and a half years of work.

Just before noon, sole shareholder François Pinault cut the ribbon, having funded the €40m project. He was joined by Rennes mayor Nathalie Appéré (PS), former mayor and minister Edmond Hervé (PS), his son François-Henri Pinault and grandsons François Nicolas Pinault and Louis-Roger Boutbien.

The facility adds a high-level setting for player development, rounding off a significant phase of infrastructure work.
