Tawanda Maswanhise broke the game open in the 35th minute with a composed finish, as Motherwell beat St Mirren 2-0. He later created the second and is now on nine league goals, second in Scottish Premiership scoring.

Before the breakthrough, the forward had already tested the visiting goalkeeper from the centre of the box (17.). He then timed his run to meet Elijah Just's through ball and slotted low into the bottom left (35.).

After the restart he turned provider, laying the ball back for Elliot Watt to arrow into the top right from outside the box (57.).

Maswanhise finished with three attempts, two on target, seven touches in the box and three fouls won, numbers that underlined how he stretched the visitors and repeatedly carried Motherwell up the pitch.

His pace on fast breaks and movement between the lines disrupted St Mirren's back line, creating lanes for runners and ensuring the hosts controlled the key transitions.

Motherwell visit Hibernian next. St Mirren travel to Livingston next.
