Allan Saint-Maximin sealed Lens' 3-1 win over Rennes in the 78th minute with a low right-footed strike from outside the box.
Introduced from the bench (61.), Saint-Maximin immediately drove at defenders. He then delivered a teasing cross that Florian Thauvin headed towards goal, which was blocked (72.).
The decisive moment followed as he latched onto Robin Risser's pass before skidding a precise finish into the bottom right from distance (78.).
Saint-Maximin finished with one attempt – the winner – plus one key pass and two successful dribbles, completing all five passes and winning the ball three times. It was a sharp 29-minute burst that added control and incision.
With Rennes stretched in transition, his direct running and one-on-one play exploited the gaps, ensuring Lens carried a constant threat after the change.
Lens visit Paris FC next. Rennes host Paris Saint-Germain.
